Course Description

Filmmaking and directing are unique forms of art; you have the opportunity to let the audience see the world through your eyes. In this club we’ll be doing a deep dive into the world of telling your stories through film. We'll explore directing, story, timing, editing, framing, perspective, plus setting the scene and much more!

Homework is to make a short video project each week applying the lessons we've learned in club. A final project is due at the end of the semester. Students can work on a semester long documentary, a short film, animation, or different short videos each week. The students are encouraged present their project each week and to give constructive criticism on each other’s projects.

“Pick up a camera. Shoot some thing. No matter how small, no matter how cheesy, no matter whether your friends and your sister star in it. Put your name on it as a director. Now you’re a director. Everything after that you’re just negotiating your budget and your fee.“ James Cameron

Homework: 50% of grade

Class Participation: 50% of grade

*If you have a student with special needs, please contact the teacher directly to discuss how to best accommodate your child.

**All Life Adventures activities & classes require an annual family registration. Once you’ve registered your family, to enroll in a class, pay the $10 enrollment fee and in the notes tell us the name and age/grade of the child you are enrolling. 2nd semester sign-ups will need to re-enroll their child through this process. The teacher will contact you within one week of enrollment to give class details and be available for questions.
