This class will review the basic operations of arithmetic on whole numbers, fractions and decimals. These operations will be used in dealing with ratio, proportions, percent, simple geometry and algebra. As students master these basic skills, they will move into more complex algebraic concepts including but not limited to; the use of variables; solving equations and inequalities; problem solving; relations and functions; polynomials. The purpose of the course is to give each student a firm grasp of the fundamental algebraic concepts that will allow success in higher level courses such as Algebra II, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Chemistry, Physics and Calculus.
Required materials A pencil and notebook.
This is not a complete curriculum, but is meant to reinforce algebraic concepts. Students may bring their current curriculum to class to ask questions.
