Welcome to the world of music! Did you know children are born with the ability to be musical? Elementary music is a vital part of developing musical intelligence. Music also enhances the ability to learn other subjects. It’s said, “Music makes you smarter”.
Discover how a yawn is the beginning technique of singing a tone and standing like a soldier is proper posture for breath support. Marching to the beat is teaching meter and proper rhythm.
During this semester we will be listening to a variety of music. The students will learn proper singing techniques with vocal warm-ups, scales and fun songs and games. We will continue with rhythm exercises using rhythm sticks and instruments we will create; such as drums made out of oatmeal containers and maracas made from plastic Easter eggs filled with beans. The children will learn notation and a C scale on the keyboard.
Finally, we will close out the semester with a performance at the last talent showcase.
