All students, grades 4-12, are invited to join our one semester drama introduction. Dabbling in Drama, although easily a stand along class, is also a perfect follow up to the Playwright class offered first semester. This class, which qualifies for a semester elective credit or fine arts credit, will focus on actively encountering drama. Students must be willing to speak up in class and be receptive to coaching and instruction. We will do weekly readings, short skits, monologues, dialogues, mime and more. The goal is NOT to produce a play, but rather to introduce basic theater terminology, types of productions, types of scripts, methods of acting etc. while building self confidence with humility in this interactive process. Active participation during class with minimal at home preparation will make this a favorite.
If you have a younger student who would love being in the class, please speak to Barb personally. Fluent reading skills are a great advantage.
1st Semester's Playwright Pros is not a pre-requisite, but a tremendous introduction to this 2nd semester hands-on class!!
Supplies: A folder and pencil.
