Course Description:  
We will discuss, learn beginning skills of analysis, and do crafts and activities based on the book of the week. This is a GREAT kids’ book club with literature that corresponds to the Middle Ages Jr. High History class! 
Elementary classes are not graded, but fun and interactive learning.


Required Materials: Many of these books are available from your local library.  Any means that any children’s book on this topic (including one you may have on your shelves) is fine.
Semester 1 - 
  1. Beowulf the Warrior, Ian
  2. -or- Beowulf, Rosemary Sutcliff
  3. -or- Beowulf : a tale of blood, heat, and ashes, Nicky Raven (exciting illustrated boy’s version)  or any
  4. Brendan the Navigator
  5. Once and Future King, White  Only read the Sword in the Stone (1st book of 3) 
  6. Wulf the Saxon: A Story of the Norman Conquest, G. A. Henty  (free online)
  7. Arabian Nights, Andrew Lang or any (free online)
  8. D’auLaire’s Norse Myths p193 -or- Nordic Gods and Heroes, Padraic Colum
Semester 2 -
