Course DescriptionÂ
Using the Stanislavski and Laban approaches to acting and stage movement, the aim of this class is to teach the young actor how to use their body on stage, communicate emotions to the audience, project their voice, listen to others on stage, and more. We will start the class with basic exercises and work our way to using these principles inside monologue work by the end of the first semester.
This class is a prerequisite to Acting Fundamentals 102 class where we will use a real script to learn how to analyze a character, use first semester principles to bring the character’s emotion to life, and more. We will then learn how to block and make a blocking map, and how to use the script to navigate breath work and verb choices. The students will act out a short section of the script for the parents at the end of 102.
TO REGISTER FOR THIS CLASS, YOU MUST PAY THE $25 NON-REFUNDABLE REGISTRATION FEE. The remainder of the fee ($100) is due the first day of class.
