Oh no! There has been a crime at the museum of art, and the security guard needs your help in solving it!
Some masterpieces at the museum have secretly been replaced with forgeries. In this class, we will step into the world of high-stakes deception and hidden clues to investigate which pieces have been switched for the fake and what gang member was responsible. Using some critical thinking techniques, students will sharpen their observation skills to spot the forgeries by looking for hidden clues in the paintings. We will learn how forgeries, fakes, and art crimes are uncovered by expert detectives, conservators, and historians that can identify inconsistencies in style, materials, and techniques.
We will read about the artists and various art movements; and even try our hand at replicating a few famous (and one not so famous) works on our own. Students will explore a famous art trickster, why they got into “criminal art”, and how they made an impact on the art world. Just like real detectives, we will examine colors, styles, signatures, and stories behind artworks to figure out what is real and what is not. So, pull out your magnifying glasses and get ready to investigate, imagine, and have a blast—because in the art world, nothing is quite what it seems!

** All classes require online family registration and enrollment. Year-long classes carry a $50 yearly enrollment fee. This enrolls your student in the class for the entire year. There is no need to re-enroll for 2nd semester. The cost listed in the title of the class is per year and can be divided into 2 semester payments due no later than the first day of each semester. This can be done here online or send in an envelope labeled with your student's name & the class name with cash or a check made out to Homeschool Life Adventures the first day of each semester.
