Do you have a green thumb? Maybe a black thumb that you’d like to get a little greener? Do you love to be outside, dig in the dirt, grow interesting plants? Maybe you love indoor plants like African violets, pothos vines, or crotons. In any case, this class is for you!
This semester long course is geared to jr. high through high school. Academically motivated 6th grade students are always welcome. Homework is geared to be about 3-4 hours per week.
Class time will consist of a hands-on experience, an explanation and a review of the textbook (which will need to be read at home) along with going over chapter outlines (done at home and reviewed in class). There will be a final given at the end of the semester over the topics covered. This will be the only test given in class with a grade reported to the parent. Any additional testing or grading is to be parental discretion.
The goals of this class:
#1 – to prepare students for the academics of high school through expectation of coming to class with homework completed (including chapter questions completed)
#2 – become accustomed to a lecture/lab environment (including following directions and lab sheets when applicable)
#3 – learn about Horticulture!
