Product Details

From the stories of Native Americans to Paul Bunyan, John Henry, and American heroes, students will learn the stories told throughout our nation’s history. Parts of speech, vocabulary, a five-sentence paragraph, and book reports will be taught, based on ability.

Students can explore the rich tapestry of early American life through the stories told to all children throughout our history. Stories are how culture is passed down through generations: from Native American tales to the Transcontinental Railroad, immigrants arriving to a new world, and the people and events that make American great, children encounter the ideas and stories that made America.

This interactive, non-graded class emphasizes play, discussion, and creativity. Students will participate in games, read-aloud, group activities, and hands-on projects that bring historical literature to life. Grammar, composition, and vocabulary will be integrated, and optional packets will be provided to allow study to continue at home. Throughout the year, each student will choose items to memorize—patriotic songs, poems, quotes, or the Pledge of Allegiance—deepening both literacy and civic awareness.

For the grand finale, families join in a Celebrate America Party, where students share dishes representing the diversity and richness of the nation they’ve studied. Many of the books and stories featured in class are widely available at libraries or can be bought used, making this program accessible, engaging, and rooted in the joy of learning.
