Discovering Great American Artists (St. Therese Session E 1:50pm) 2nd-12th, *$100/Semester and a one time Materials fee of $20
This is a FUN introduction to Art History and Artist Study with a hands on project each week. The skill level of the art project is dependent on student’s ability. In class we’ll do a brief study of an American artist and their best known works. We will create a piece of art in the style of the artist, and map styles on an art history timeline in our art books. There will be no tests, but the last class will be an “artists’ exhibition” having each student pick their favorite pieces to display and discuss.
Required materials: pencil case for holding art supplies, art book: minimum of 30 sheets size 11×15 or larger; designed for mixed media, pencil and eraser
Homework
is not required, unless the reproduction is not completed in class. There are no tests.
There is no prerequisite. The artists will be different, as will the projects. For one project, students will need access to a camera (device with camera is fine) and one photo printed as an 8x10.
Cost per Semester: $100 tuition plus Materials Fee $20
